
Who We Are
Lending Hands Initiative is a grassroots community-based organization committed to building healthier, safer, and more resilient communities in Kenya.
We work at the intersection of health, protection, and psychosocial support, focusing on children living with sickle cell disease, survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), and caregivers in need of mental and emotional support.
Through community-driven programs, advocacy, and direct support, we aim to empower families, reduce stigma, and ensure that vulnerable members of our communities have access to the care and protection they deserve.
Our Pillars
1️⃣ Health Access
We Improve access to life saving medication for children living with sicklecell disease including hydroxyurea and routine treatment .We also raise awareness in communities to reduce stigma promote early intervention.
2️⃣ Protection & Gender Justice
We provide education, advocacy, and community programs to prevent and respond to gender-based violence. Our work ensures that survivors are supported, protected, and empowered to rebuild their lives.
3️⃣ Mental & Psychosocial Support
We facilitate caregiver support groups, emotional wellness workshops, and community engagement activities to strengthen mental health and resilience among families affected by chronic illness and violence.
Mission
To empower communities in Siaya county,kenya by addressing prevelant Non-communicable and infectious diseases , Strengthening health systems, fostering health awareness and facilitating access to essential health services through dedicated community engagement and strategic refferals.

To Re-Create communities where every individual has equitable access to comprehensive health care,lives free from preventable diseases and enjoys optimal well being.
Why We Exist
In rural and underserved communities, families face multiple overlapping challenges: children with sickle cell struggle to access treatment, survivors of GBV often go without support, and caregivers experience high levels of stress and trauma.
Lending Hands Initiative exists to address these challenges holistically, ensuring that health, safety, and wellbeing are accessible to all.
